You can never go thirsty in Rome.
Everywhere you look there are fountains. Fountains, fountains and more fountains. And the water is good!
I kept filling up my water bottle at all these fountains. The water in the fountains is always running, Romans don’t have the same respect for water that we do in Melbourne, I suppose they’re not used to drought, much less a drought that lasts for thirteen years.
Some people don’t have much respect when it comes to putting their rubbish in the bin. Heaven knows, there’s a rubbish bin – complete with smokers’ trays – every few feet,
What I find so beguiling is the SPQR stamped on many of thes fountains. Don’t tell me these sources of clean, fresh water are 1500 years old, could they be? When did the city stop marking municipal property as belonging to the Senate and the People of Rome?
It’s stamped on the drain pipes too.
